Hi Gareth.

For a few weeks Iíve been unable to put the HP to sleep without the following problem. As a result, I have it running on Ďturn the screen off in 20 miní during the day, then shut the machine down when I leave the office at the close of business hours. As a result, I suppose that it is not doing the 6:00 pm backup, unless it automatically does it when I restart the HP the next day.

If the HP goes to sleep, when it wakes up the following sequence occurs.

The normal desktop image arrives, then after a few seconds it starts flashing off to black screen > on to picture > black > picture. This flashing sequence happens maybe 5 times, followed by a pale blue screen with the following message in white type.

Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. Weíre just collecting some error info, and then you can restart.

At that point the only way to proceed that I have found is to turn the HP off at the ON/OFF switch on the box. I havenít found anything on the keyboard that works at this stage. When I turn the HP power back on at its power on/off switch, it starts up normally. Iíve been living with this, by never putting the HP to sleep. However, every time that I restart it, I have to reset the second screen to Ďextendí, which is getting tiresome. Also, I wonder about the 6:00 pm backup not getting done.

Any suggestions, please?
